Why is the National Art Centre in Ottawa hosting a Pro-Iranian Cultural Event?

By Sayeh Hassan, May 26. 2011

Islamic Regime is Organizing a "Cultural Event" at the National Art Centre in Ottawa

The Islamic Regime of Iran is at it again, attempting to organize a "cultural event" at the National Art Centre in Ottawa on June 4th 2011. The Regime has been known to organize so called culltural events every so often in order to mask its true nature, and hide behind culture. This is an attempt to move the focus of Canadians and the Canadian Government away from the human rights violations, recent waive of mass executions, rape and torture in prisons and the general illegitimacy of the Regime in Iran.

This event is being organized by the Cultural Centre of Iran which is affiliated with the Islamic Regime Embassy in Ottawa. It is concerning to see that once again the Regime is attempting to show its influence and power in Canada.

Also Michael Petrou From McLeans has written an article about this http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/05/27/canadas-national-arts-centre-hosts-iranian-embassy-cultural-day/

I just got off the phone with Mary Gordon from the National Art Centre and she advised me of the following:

1. NAC is a government funded organization
2. NAC has called the ministry of foreign affairs and they have advised that since Canada has a diplomatic relationship with Iran there is nothing prohibiting the Islamic Regime from having this event at NAC.

This means any attempts to contact NAC isn't going to bear much fruit. We need to focus on the government instead, in particular ministry of foreign affairs (Mr. Irandoost lets make sure to address the letter to the ministry of foreign affairs rather than NAC) and we need to contact our own members of parliament (for all my friends who live in Canada).

Lets make sure we are aiming our efforts in the right direction.

We may have to organize a protest but I am hoping it won't come to that.

Down with the Islamic Regime in Iran.
