Shelley Faintuch has been seconded by CIJA to serve in the role of Associate Director, Local Partner Services. While retaining responsibility for the Community Relations Department in Winnipeg, Shelley will act as liaison and provide advocacy support to other communities in the prairies including Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary, and Edmonton.

Shelley’s enthusiasm, broad knowledge of the issues and experience in working with community activists, journalists, and the political sector will ensure her continued success. 

After a comprehensive restructuring process, a new era in Canadian Jewish advocacy has officially begun with the creation of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs. The organization is now responsible for all activities previously administered by Canadian Jewish Congress, the Canada-Israel Committee, the Quebec-Israel Committee, Quebec Jewish Congress and the University Outreach Committee.

“This is the culmination of months of intensive research and consultation with our community across Canada. Anyone with concerns and questions will now have one central address to look to for advice, support and information regarding Canadian Jewry. We are the one stop shop and singular public policy voice for the organized Jewish community, ” said David Koschitzky, Chair of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs.

CEO Shimon Fogel noted that the new body is in a better position to serve the advocacy needs of Canadian Jewry, and the broader pro-Israel community in Canada.

“This structure is more efficient, providing for rapid response and strategic leadership across a wide range of activities. We are re-focusing much of our energy on establishing a dynamic relationship with our Jewish Federation partners across Canada, to better empower their particular communities,” said Fogel.

“The Jewish people of Canada have a history of strong civic engagement and leadership when it comes to public policies that enhance the quality of life for all Canadians,” said Koschitzky. “We’re here to enable our community to continue this legacy, while at the same time developing even greater support for Israel among Canadians from across the country.”

“While our community faces a number of challenges, I am grateful that we have an outstanding team of lay leaders and professional staff who will enable us to succeed in our mission,” concluded Fogel.
