Palestine Logo At the U.N. Suggests Elimination of Israel

PA Ambassador says Palestinian refugees within the West Bank will not be given citizenship of any new Palestinian state to preserve their right of return

by Rhonda Spivak, September 28, 2011

Editor's note: Thank you to David Bedein, our  Israel correspondent who was at the UN last week for pointiing this out to me.

The logo of “the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the United Nations” – on their website and on top of their official statements at the U.N. – shows the Palestinian Authority’s claim to a Palestine that stretches throughout the entire historical entity of the former Palestine mandate. The logo which shows a map in green  includes not only the West Bank and Gaza , but all of  Israel.

There is nothing in the logo that even suggests that Palestine consists of anything other than Arab territory. There is no recognition anywhere of the  U.N.’s 1948 decision to divide this area into a Jewish and Arab state. The logo does not refer to  the shape of Israel when it was forced into waging the defensive Six Day war in 1967.

Now ask yourselves--Is this logo an accident?

The Quartet should have a good look at this logo,as should all members of the Security Council.

Doesn't the logo suggest that the Palestinian bid before the U.N. for support of a unilateral declaration of statehood is rather dangerous  and disengenuous?.

There is not too much left to the imagination here: Israel is “wiped off the map.”

It is also very consistent with what our Israeli correspondent, David Bedein, of the Israel Resource Review reports from the U.N:  "Palestinian Authority representatives in the United Nations are handing out maps of "Palestine" that show it in place of all of Israel, including Tel-Aviv," he says.

The logo suggest that endorsing a unilateral declaration of  Palestion statehood is not going to end the conflict, but  quite th eopposite. It is going to fuel it.

As  the Daily star in Lebanon reported [Palestinian Refugees in West Bank Will Not Be Citizens of New State]
Palestine's ambassador to Lebanon Abdullah Abdullah said  that Palestinian refugees would not become citizens of the proposed Palestinian state.

"Even Palestinian refugees who are living inside the [Palestinian] state [in UNWRA  camps in Ramallah, Bethlehem etc], they are still refugees. They will not be considered citizens."

He said statehood "will never affect the right of return for Palestinian refugees."

"When we have a state accepted as a member of the United Nations, this is not the end of the conflict. This is not a solution to the conflict. This is only a new framework that will change the rules of the game."
