Candidate for School Trustee - Winnipeg School Division Ward 1

MARK WASYLIW , November 22, 2011

As a parent that has kids that attend school in the Winnipeg School Division, the quality and accessibility of our education system is key to their success – and the success of all students that attend in the division. I want every parent to be assured that their child is accessing what they need from their educational program  - all kids deserve to have that opportunity to thrive in their school.
I grew up in a family of educators – with both of my parents teaching in the public school system.  My partner Jac-lynn and I, have lived in the Winnipeg School Division’s Ward 1 boundary since 1999. Jac-lynn is also an educator and we have three children, Nicolas, Zoe and Zach. Nicolas and Zoe attend Ecole Robert H. Smith School and Zach will be attending the nursery program next year.
All parents want the best for their kids. In my opinion the WSD has some of the best programming in Manitoba. I not only want to make sure that continues, but I want to build to make it better.
I’m a successful lawyer and businessman – running the Bueti, Wasyliw & Associates Law Firm.  My educational background includes a B.A from the University of Manitoba and Masters Degree in Political Science from McGill University. I also studied law at the University of Ottawa and hold a Masters of Criminal Law from Osgood Hall Law School. I was called to the Bar in 2000.
In my spare time I volunteer for a variety of organizations including the Association in Defence of the Wrongfully Convicted and coached the Crescentwood Grizzlies Football Team this past season
The by-election is slated for Saturday, November 26, 2011 and I ask for your support.
