The following is a lettter form Gray Academy sent to parents with children already enrolled in the school:
THE GOOD NEWS
Enrolment at Gray Academy this year has provided us an opportunity to open new classrooms and provide a wonderful education program to as many students as possible. We anticipate enrolment requirements to be the same or greater for 2012/2013.
CAUSE FOR CONCERN
We cannot open any new classrooms for 2012/2013 as the physical space does not exist. Therefore, there will be more interested students than we can enroll in the school. We will be forced to take wait lists once classrooms are full...and they will be filled. Currently we are involved in discussions with the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and the Asper Jewish Community Campus in attempting to find solutions to this problem.
BETTER NEWS - *THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART*
While registration opens January 31 and ends March 2 for the 2012/2013 school year we have decided to give current students an opportunity to register first, before we accept any new students into the school…this is however a limited opportunity.
You have from January 31 to February 17 to register your children for school for the 2012/2013 school year and be guaranteed a spot. After February 17 registration will be on a first come, first serve basis and we will accept all registrations, current and new, until classes are filled and then we will put potential students on a wait list.
THE REALITY
Please take this notification seriously. This year we only had a few students on wait lists but everyone was accepted because we could open new classrooms. We do not have any more available space. We cannot open new classrooms. We are giving current students first opportunity to register for 2012/2013.
When you receive your 2012/2013 registration materials later this month, it is important to act quickly so that you do not miss the February 17 preferential registration deadline.
We appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
