BINYAMIN COHEN

THE JEWISH CONDOM MAGNATE

BINYAMIN COHEN, posted March 2, 2012

[Editor's Note:  The Saturday night headliner at this year's Limmud Conference was Binyamin Cohen. When I first saw the name I thought it was the Binyamin Cohen that I know, the son of  Faye Rosenberg Cohen ( an organizer of Limmud and Director of palnning for the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg ) and  Harvey Cohen , and I couldn't figure out how Faye rosenberg Cohen had managed to get her son as the opening act !

But alas I was wrong.  There is another Binyamin Cohen, a  Georgia-born son of an Orthodox rabbi  , who has written what several Limmudniks who saw his presentation referred to as a "hilarious" book ,My Jesus Year -- about his experiences checking out  tons of churches,  seeing  the best and the worst of Christianity.  The Winnipeg Jewish Review will be reviewing his book on spending a year church hopping in an upcoming issue, but for those who would like to know more already, go to
http://www.myjesusyear.com/media/.

Cohen married the converted daughter of a former Christian minister. He was the  founder and editor of the award-winning national magazine American Jewish  Life and the online magazine Jewsweek, and he has written for the Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, the Washington Post, and Slate.

In the fascinating article article below, Binyamin Cohen writes about a book that tells the story of how Julius Fromm built Germany’s most famous condom brand, which is still around today, and then had it stolen away from him by the Nazis.]

by Binyamin Cohen,

I thought I had heard all the possible Nazi stories. Nearly 70 years after the fact, it’s pretty hard to come up with new Holocaust tales
