MAGGID YITZHAK BUXBAUM FROM NACHMANIFEST HAS BROUGHT TOGETHER STORIES TO ENHANCE YOUR SEDER-DOWNLOAD FREE

by Winnipeg Jewish Review, April 2, 21012

Maggid Yitzhak Buxbaum, the author of ten books, including Jewish Spiritual Practices, The Light and Fire of the Baal Shem Tov, and Jewish Tales of Holy Women, is a beloved teacher based in New York. He tours the continent, teaching in Jewish contexts and interfaith programs, and has trained many Maggids, Jewish spiritual storytellers.

Yitzhak was in Winnipeg in 2010 as an honoured teacher at Nachmanifest, the celebration of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov held on the 200th anniversary of the Rebbe's death. He shared many beautiful stories and teachings, and he ordained Professor Justin Jaron Lewis as a Maggid at that time. One insight that Yitzhak presented was the connection of Serach Bat Asher, a woman mentioned in the Torah, to the narrative of Passover.

Now Yitzhak has brought together women's midrash (traditional stories) and his teachings in a free illustrated download, to enhance the Passover seder. Please enjoy these readings, please see if there is anything here you would like to include in your seder, and please pass these teachings on to others.

They can be downloaded for free at Maggid Yitzhak Buxbaum's website, "The Jewish Spirit Online" at
http://www.jewishspirit.com/index.html.

Letter from Maggid Yitzhak Buxbaum.

Friends, I have made an exciting discovery about Serach bat Asher and

Passover that I want to make available to Jews everywhere, to bring special

joy to this year’s seder.

I have written a Haggadah supplement called “Serach at the Seder”

that contains the Serach stories from the Midrash that show what I’m excited

about. You can read it now and forward it to others. The text of the supplement is attached to this email.

I hope everyone will be as thrilled as I am and use the supplement at their seder.

By April 1st, a more polished, formatted version will be available for free

download on my websitewww.jewishspirit.com. Look for it there!

I have written a Haggadah commentary of which the Serach material

is a part. When the publishing of the Haggadah was delayed till next year

I decided to produce this part separately to give people joy at their seders

this year. Next year look for my Haggadah commentary which is titled A

Haggadah for Mystics and Drunks.

The Serach supplement is a taste. Please send “Serach at the Seder” to

your lists and tell them an artistic formatted version will also be available in

the coming week.

If you’re excited by the "Serach Project," please help us publicize it

worldwide now. Contact Alissa Thomas [email protected].
