Monica Hirsch's Recipe: My Mama Shayna Rogalach

Rogalach

 Ingredients:

1/2 LB Butter (salted) softened

4 Cups Flour

1/2 Cup warm Milk

2 Eggs (beaten)

2 Tablespoons Sugar

2 packages dry Yeast

1/2 Cup warm Water

1 Teaspoon Sugar

 Bag Dark Brown Sugar

1/4 LB Butter (salted) softened

 Step #1

 Combine 1/2 Cup warm Water

2 packages dry Yeast

1 Teaspoon Sugar

Set aside, let it rise

 Step # 2

Combine Flour, Butter, Milk, Eggs and Sugar

 Step #3

Fold Yeast mixture, which has risen into Flour mixture

 Step #4

Blend until smooth (using your hands)

 Step # 5

Refrigerate overnight

 Step #6

Remove from fridge and divide mixture into 4 equal parts

Step # 7

Roll out one section at a time in a circular pattern (like a pie)

 Step # 8

Spread a thin layer of softened Butter on rolled dough, then spread a layer of dark brown sugar

Step # 9

Using a sharp knife cut triangles like you were cutting a slice of a pizza (depending on how large you want the Rogalach)

 Step #10

Lift the wide edge of the triangle and roll it

 Step# 11

Set aside a small amount of brown Sugar   Slightly dip top of rolled Rogalach into Sugar

Not necessary to wait for them to rise

 Step # 12

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Place Rogalach on buttered aluminum cookie sheet, one at a time fill pan  Bake until golden brown, keep checking , not to burn, sugar should be golden  Remove from oven, slightly cool Rogalach, while still warm use spatula to lift  Place on flat serving dish, let cool  Rogalach can be frozen, but highly unlikely as they are SIMPLY DELICIOUS
