My name is Joshua Slayen and I am the Vice President of Legal Linkup (
www.LegalLinkup.com). Legal Linkup is a website that streamlines the
lawyer/client networking process, making it easy and efficient for lawyers
and clients to connect online. I am operating the website out of Winnipeg
but we are currently focusing our efforts on the Toronto legal market. In
the coming weeks we will be expanding and moving into Winnipeg, which we
are very excited about. Please note that my colleagues involved with Legal
Linkup are Lawrence Tepperman, a Toronto business man and Shane Coblin, a

Prior to my involvement with Legal Linkup I grew up in Winnipeg, spending
my summers at BB Camp and Camp Massad, and participating in BBYO. I
attended the University of North Dakota for law school and then moved to
Toronto, where I met Lawrence and my law career took a crazy twist. It is
great to be running the operation in Winnipeg, because it is through the
Jewish institutions in this city that I developed my entrepreneurial
skills.

I wanted to bring Legal Linkup to your attention because I thought it may
be an interesting topic for your readers to know about. Social networking sites
are emerging in vast numbers and they are changing the way people socialize
and do business. Furthermore, many of these websites are being operated
either from the west or the east, so it unique to have an operation like
this based out of Winnipeg.

– You’d be hard pressed to make it through a day without hearing a joke about lawyers, but despite the stereotypes, many in the profession believe that justice needs to be more accessible to average Canadians. Such is the thinking of Vancouver lawyer Shane Coblin who, along with Toronto businessman Lawrence Tepperman, has created an original online service to help individuals and small businesses find the legal support they need.

Using technology similar to the online dating site e-Harmony, Legal Linkup allows clients to confidentially post a request for services and receive proposals from multiple lawyers practicing in the relevant areas. Clients post their requests on the site free of charge. While all lawyers are welcome to peruse all postings, Legal Linkup is set up in such a way that lawyers are directly sent the postings and opportunities that are most relevant to them, based on their chosen settings. Interested lawyers are able to connect online with clients to ask questions and garner information before providing a proposal, and clients always have the ultimate right of refusal.
