Sol James performs Barbra Streisand’s most popular and beloved songs

April 12^th at the West End Cultural Centre.

We are delighted to be featuring Sol James for this year’s Heart of the City Benefit. Sol James is a force to be reckoned with.  Having performed a vast variety of music including jazz, country, soul and blues, she is now tapping into those skills along with 10 of Winnipeg’s finest musicians to pay tribute to one of the greatest singers of our time – Barbra Streisand.   Originally performed to resounding acclaim and a sold out crowd at the Rady JCC’s 2013 Tarbut Festival, this concert showcases Sol singing a selection of Streisand’s most beloved songs, recorded and performed throughout her incredible 5 decade career.  If you are a Streisand fan, you will want to be involved in this event. 

The evening will also include a cash bar, light snacks, and another fabulous silent auction.  

The Cause

Funds are being raised for Mount Carmel Clinic’s Mothering Project, a new program to support pregnant women living in vulnerable situations.  Elements of this program include:  obstetric supports; nutrition and food preparation classes; trauma counseling; addiction treatment; parenting and child development instruction.  The cost of renovations at Mount Carmel to house all components of the Mothering Project including a new, licensed infant care centre is estimated at $1.2 M.
