This week marks the 18th (‘Chai’) anniversary of Partnership 2Gether (P2G), the Jewish community of Winnipeg’s involvement in the Canadian Coast-to-Coast partnership with the northern communities of Israel. To celebrate, our community is hosting eight students from Danciger High School along with two educators, as our guests.
During this week of events, the students will be doing Israel-oriented workshops and seminars with Gray Academy and Brock Corydon students, touring the city, celebrating the Jewish holidays, visiting with residents of the Simkin Centre and generally, having fun and creating what we hope will be life-long friendships with members of our community.
Of all of these events, I personally invite the community to attend two special events:
• Saturday, October 18: Students will participate in Shabbat services at Congregation Shaarey Zedek from 9:00am-12:00pm, with a Kiddush lunch following the services.
• Monday, October 20: P2G's 18th Birthday Party at Congregation Shaarey Zedek from 7:30-9:30pm.
For people in the community who have not yet enjoyed a taste of this partnership, the Shabbat is a great opportunity to see the true ‘partnership’ between our community, and our Israeli family!
Finally, I want to thank everyone in the community who is involved in this year’s Partnership program – committee members, host families, organizational representatives, educators, teens and staff who make this partnership work!
