“Books for Kids”
Since 2011 National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Winnipeg Section has donated over 1500 books for their “Books for Kids” project. Books have been donated to two inner city schools, Carpathia and Mulvey School. Rossbrook House, which is an inner city drop in centre has been the recipient of over 1000 books. Rossbrook House creates safe spaces for children, youth and young adults. The books are distributed by Rossbrook House to pre-school, elementary and junior high kids, who are able to take these books home. Many children might be able to borrow library books, but do not have books of their own to keep. The purpose of “Books for Kids” is to ensure that everyone will own books.
If anyone has gently used books they would like to donate, please contact the Council Office.
