A Survivor's Granddaughter
When I look at the smile on my grandfather's face
I wonder why someone would want to wipe out his whole race
He was forced to wear a bright yellow Jewish star
That many people could identify from afar
And as Hitler rose to fame
The Jews started getting all the blame
He had to hide for his life
And suffer through so much strife
Just because he had a different religion
He lost his whole family and was grief ridden
I always start to shed a tear
When I think of how much fear
He must have had as a child knowing that at any second
That the Natzis could come and check in
My grandfather did not adjure
While Hitler was trying to make the world pure
So when we say we shall never forget
I don't think we will ever truly get
Just how abhorrent the Holocaust was
