CHABAD'S GRAND OPENING CHANNUKAH PARTY AND CONCERT ON DECEMBER 5TH

press release

Chabad Jewish Learning Centre Opens Its Doors

Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, recalls the miraculous victory--more than 2100 years ago--of a militarily weak but spiritually strong Jewish people over the mighty forces of a ruthless enemy that had overrun the Holy Land and threatened to engulf the land and its people in darkness.

For eight days, Jewish communities across the globe gather together with family and friends to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, of spirituality over materiality, and to publicize its eternal message - that one single act of goodness and kindness can dispel a great deal of darkness.

Chabad-Lubavitch invites the entire Jewish community to the Grand Opening of the its new Jewish Learning Centre in Chanukah concert with Chaim Fogelman on Sunday, December 5th from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. The community-wide program will feature a live concert; inaugural Mezuzah ceremony; special video presentation; festive lighting of a giant menorah (in association with the Rady JCC and Jewish Federation); our annual car menorah parade with police escort; a spectacular display of fireworks and much more.

The construction of the new Jewish Learning Centre in Winnipeg's South-End is a major milestone and an historical event in the history of Winnipeg's Jewish Community. The new Jewish Learning Centre will provide a wide array of inter-generational educational programs touching and enriching the lives of young and old, professionals and laypeople, the affiliated and the non-affiliated, immigrants and long-time citizens.

Chaim Fogelman's name has become synonymous with meaningful Jewish music. Since making his first recording at the age of 9, Chaim has entertained crowds around the world. With original songs that are alternately thoughtful, moving, and witty, Chaim has the unique ability to touch both children and adults.

Once again, we will have our Menorah Mobile out on the road on every night of Chanukah. Enhance your Chanukah celebration by scheduling a visit to your home or family party. We also have Chanukah supplies available including dreidels, chocolate gelt, menorahs and candles.

For further information, and to learn more about Chanukah, please visit our newly designed website at www.ChabadWinnipeg.org.

Chabad-Lubavitch wishes you and yours, a truly happy and joyous Chanukah!
