Obituary - Dr. Charles Pascoe-Former Winnipegger who was living in Texas

DR. CHARLES PASCOE Dr. Charles Pascoe, 69, passed away on November 23, 2010, due to complications following a ruptured aneurysm. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he earned his Bachelor's Degree at the University of North Dakota, his Master's Degree at Colorado State University, and his Ph.D. at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. As Head of Child Drama for nearly 30 years at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, Dr. Pascoe wrote more than a dozen children's musicals. Through the years his plays not only entertained hundreds of thousands of students, children, and their parents, but earned both national and international awards. He primarily taught theatre teacher certification majors and elementary education majors. Countless students cited Chuck as a role model, somebody who embodied the traits, demeanor, and expertise they would seek in their own future teaching, said Department of Theatre and Dance Chair John Fleming, He was one of the most fun, energetic, caring, and compassionate teachers I have ever known. He was one of those professors who literally changed students' lives. While his sudden loss is devastating, I also know that Chuck's influence will live on through the students he taught and the plays he created, said Fleming. He was very active in Central Texas Masonry and held multiple Masonic leadership posts. Dr. Pascoe is survived by his wife Barbara; sons, Jonathan and Benjamin; daughters, Hilary (Drew) Gossett and Emily (Enocencio) Valdez; sister Lillian (Mel) Fogel; brother Jerome (Larissa) Pascoe; and his grandson Sean Thomas Gossett. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m. on the Main Stage of the Theatre Center at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. A scholarship in Chuck's name is being established at Texas State. Details about contributing to that fund can be obtained by contacting the Department of Theatre and Dance at [email protected].
