From the President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg: Announcing the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund

posted April 20, 2020

It’s hard to wrap our heads around how different the world looks today compared to just a month ago, and we continue to do our best to be there for those in need, ensuring that no one gets left behind. Our community needs you now more than ever.

It is your generosity and caring that makes what we do possible. The result of our partnership is a strong, secure, and connected community.

Our agencies, schools and synagogues are on the front lines providing meals, health care, wellness check-ins, care for our seniors, virtual counselling, online programming, and education. The agencies and programs you helped to build have ensured that every single person in our Jewish community has a place to turn.

Through its network of community agencies, synagogues and related organizations, Federation is uniquely positioned to map and manage communal needs in order to effectively respond to those which are most critical.

Today, we are launching the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund for the Jewish community in Winnipeg.

This fund is for emergency funding only and will support the urgent and immediate needs of the most vulnerable among us. It will provide vital financial assistance to organizations helping individuals and families in our community.

Most importantly, the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund will be open to every Jewish community organization in Winnipeg who will apply through a needs-based granting process.  All funds will remain in Winnipeg.

With your help and support, I know we will continue to do what we have always done – ensure the viability and sustainability of the necessary services and programs to meet the needs of our community members.

Thank you for being there in this time of need.

Sincerely,
