2023 Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival Set to Hit the Big Screen

posted here May 1, 2023

WINNIPEG, MB – It’s three weeks till curtain call!

The Rady JCC is thrilled to announce the lineup for the 2023 Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival, proudly presented once again by The Asper Foundation with support from the Babs Asper Centre for Cultural Arts.

The 2023 edition is scheduled to run from May 10 to June 3, throughout multiple in-person venues as well as virtually. Cinema lovers will have opportunities to enjoy award-winning films, special events, visiting directors, and various receptions.

“The annual Winnipeg International Jewish Film Festival brings people of all backgrounds together to celebrate the richness of the Jewish experience through film,” said Laura Marjovsky, Director of Programming at the Rady JCC. “This festival will entertain, educate, and engage diverse audiences by presenting an extensive array of features and documentaries that speak to the diversity of the Jewish experience.

The majority films will be screened at the Berney Theatre located at the Asper Jewish Community Campus (AJCC) at 123 Doncaster Street.

“There’s something special about being a part of an audience and sharing in a collective emotion,” Marjovsky continued. “Whether it’s laughs or tears, you will be taken on a journey through the magic of cinema.”

The highly popular ‘Shorts on Sherbrook’ film crawl, held at different locations on Sherbrook Street, will be featured once again as will the hugely popular drive-in movie night in the AJCC parking lot. Virtual options will also be available, allowing viewers opportunities to enjoy top-notch movies in the comfort of their homes during 48-hour windows from the time of its in-person premieres.

“Whatever you are looking for in terms of films, you will find it at our festival this year,” Marjovsky concluded.

“See you at the movies.”
