Emily Shane

MACDONALD YOUTH SERVICES TO HONOUR JCFS DIRECTOR EMILY SHANE

[ Press Release ]

As a child, we all remember the feeling of excitement as we got in the car with Mom and Dad to head to the circus. It had just arrived in town and we could almost taste the cotton candy. The park was filled with kids screaming as the roller coaster dove into its final turn. These memories live within us as we grow older. We have tried to relive that excitement through our children and grandchildren with the bright looks on their faces the first time they try mini donuts or candy apples.

Macdonald Youth Services hosts its 3rd annual Gala Dinner Under the Big Top on April 15, 2010 at Delta Winnipeg. This vintage carnival feel is your chance to be a kid again. This event promises to be filled with some of the things we all cherish from our childhoods. Not only is this your opportunity to play carnival games and eat cotton candy it’s a chance to support an agency that helps the youth in our community.

During this event, MYS will also be honouring our own Emily Shane, Executive Director of Jewish Child and Family Services with the 2010 Sir Hugh John Macdonald Memorial Award.

“This award is presented to someone who demonstrates values of respect and fairness towards youth, and practical assistance for youth so they can have a positive future,” said Dr. Erma Chapman, Executive Director of MYS.

Over the past 38 years, Emily has been known for her humanity, her sensitivity and her profound empathy for those in need.  She has worked extensively with people of all ages and origins. Particularly, she goes above and beyond in helping every child realize his or her optimum potential.

Emily’s wonderful track record of caring and fostering hope and renewal is exemplary and she truly symbolizes the work and mission of MYS.

I am proud to have been the person to support the nomination of Emily for her ongoing dedication to the youth in our community.  I hope you will join me in supporting her and Macdonald Youth Services on April 15.  For more information or to order your tickets, please contact me at [email protected] or at (204) 949-4292.  I look forward to seeing you there.
