MATLOCK FESTIVAL-AUGUST 27-28, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MATLOCK FEST 2011 – BIGGER AND BETTER

August 27 and 28, 2011 Matlock, Manitoba

Summer ain't over 'till the Festival sings!!!

Manitoba's greatest summer keeps on sizzling through the last weekend in August as the Matlock Festival returns for its second annual celebration of music, art and nature. The non-profit festival will showcase Manitoba musicians, artists, educators and performers, featuring workshops in nature, arts and healthy living, with this year's Festival featuring even more interactive workshops, more fun activities and more great music. From bluegrass, jazz, and choral to reggae, folk music and blues; from yoga, kirtan and belly dancing to drumming, banjo-picking and nutrition; from bird-watching and circle dancing to making art and labyrinth walks, Matlock Festival will showcase these local Manitoban treasures and much more.

Matlock Festival takes place Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 on a 45-acre site of tall grass prairie and forest nestled in the community of Matlock on the edge of Lake Winnipeg. A short walk from the beach, the Festival site is a sanctuary for birds, bees, wildlife – and people! A strong component of the Festival is respecting and enhancing the natural habitats and biodiversity around Lake Winnipeg.

Matlock Festival offers a Weekend Pass for $45, while Single Day tickets are $30 for Saturday (9:30 am – midnight) and $20 for Sunday (9:30 am – 6:00 pm). On-site camping is also available for the weekend. Buy your tickets on-line at matlockfestival.ca or pick them up in Winnipeg at Wolseley Wardrobe and at The Neighbourhood Cafe; in Matlock at the General Store and at Janet's Place; in Whytewold at The Whytewold Store; and in Gimli at Taylor Pharmacy and at Tergesen's.

At the 2011 Matlock Festival

The Matlock Festival's mandate is to connect people and build community.
