THE TORONTO STAR REFERENCED THE WINNIPEG JEWISH REVIEW IN IT'S ARTICLE RE: FERN RYKISS, CDN VICTIMS OF TERROR, AND SHALIT DEAL

by Rhonda Spivak,October 19, 2011

The Winnipeg Jeiwsh review has started to get  referral hits from the website of the Toronto Star. This is because the  Toronto Star  on October 17, 2011 wrote about  Canadian victims  of  the Palestinian terrorist, who in 1989  murdered  Canadians, among them Winnipegger Fern Shawna Rykiss, when he  took over bus. 405 en route to Jerusalem. The terrorist is one of 1027  being released in the prisoner swap in exchange for Gilad Shalit.

Specifically, the  article written by Josh Tapper in  the Toronto Star  referrs to  " Jeremy Feuer, a Winnipeg lawyer and childhood friend of Rykiss" who took a hard line in a statement in the Winnipeg Jewish Review.

“I am happy for Gilad Shalit, and his parents certainly do deserve a night’s rest after years of living with this nightmare,” Feuer said. “However, the terrorist who committed the atrocity on Bus 405 has shown no remorse. Although there is no capital punishment in Israel, I regret that he wasn’t executed years ago.”
The Star also  quoted  David Satran, a cousin who created a Facebook memorial page for Rykiss, who said Israel was trying to “save face” by orchestrating a deal for Shalit. “It’s easier to justify an action than an inaction.”
In a related development  Maèan news has reported that  a public holiday has been announced by Hamas to celebrate the prisoner release in Gaza  http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=430569
