JEWISH FEDERATION SURVEY: WHO WANTS MORE NAMES ADDED TO THE HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL AT WINNIPEG'S LEGISLATURE

Holocaust Monument Project 2011-2012

posted Dec 3, 2011

The Holocaust Monument on the Grounds of the provincial Legislature, erected in 1990, had 3000 names of Holocaust victims inscribed. In 1997, 56 additional names were engraved. Since then, members of the community, who may not have been aware of the project, have approached us inquiring about the possibility of adding names of loved ones to the Monument.

Over the past 10 years the Winnipeg Jewish Community has welcomed over 4,000 newcomers who might wish to have names inscribed on the monument.

However, before we embark on such a project, we need to ascertain whether there are indeed names for the monument. Once we have an idea of the numbers, we will be able to determine whether we can go forward with the project.

We, therefore, invite all members of the Jewish community of Winnipeg to let us know the responses to the questions below in this initial community survey.

Please submit the following information by email or by phone to Florencia Katz, Holocaust Monument Project Coordinator at the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg. [email protected] or 204.480.7559.
