(December 9, 2011) The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg is pleased to announce the election of Israel Ludwig as President effective Thursday, December 8, 2011.
“Rael” is 64 years old and has lived in Winnipeg all his life. He began his involvement with the Jewish community in 1983 when he became chair of the B’nai Brith League for Human Rights Mid- West Region, a position he held for 2 years. In 1985 he was elected to the Board of the Winnipeg Jewish Community Council, the predecessor of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg. He has held a number of positions with Federation including Vice President Community Relations, Honorary Solicitor, CJA Campaign Chair, and most recently Vice President.
Rael was also Chair of Canadian Jewish Congress Manitoba Region and Chair of CJC’s most successful National Plenary held in Winnipeg in 1994.
Rael is a lawyer practicing with the firm of Duboff Edwards Haight & Schachter. He is married to Maylene. They have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
