TORONTO, 19 February 2012 – B'nai Brith Canada welcomed the announcement by York RegionalPolice that it has doubled the reward for information regarding an unsolved 2004 hate crime spree, raising it to $40,000. Thirteen Vaughan homes, including that of aHolocaust survivor, were defaced with swastikas and other antisemitic messages overnight on March 14, 2004.

Frank Dimant, CEO of B'nai Brith Canada commented,"It was an unnerving night for the entire community. The fact that York Regional Police continue to seek out the perpetrators displays their commitment to counter hate-related activity in the region. As our annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents documents, antisemitic activity has taken no hiatus. Thankfully neither have the police.

"We continue to offer the services of our anti-hatehotline 24/7. We encourage the reporting of all acts of antisemitism and racism as we prepare our annual report, the Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, which is soon tobe released. The community's assistance is vital."
