Over the weekend, Egyptian media reported that security authorities foiled a terrorist attack against Israeli vessels crossing the Suez Canal.
According to the newspaper Al-Ahram, two suspects were arrested on suspicion for involvement in terrorist funding for the purpose of carrying out an attack on Israeli naval vessels.
Initial details from the investigation suggest that the two men offered a person named Muhammad Zakri 50 million Egyptian Liras to carry out an attack against an Israeli vessel. The two suspects, Saliman Rizek abdel Razek and Salame Ahmed Salame, told Zachri that he would be paid by Shiite sources.
While both suspects are refusing to cooperate with police, an investigation confirmed that both are connected to Iran.
Last week, the IDF Spokesperson confirmed that two Israeli missile boats crossed the Suez Canal, but their destination was unclear.
