MONICA HIRSCH AND DAVID THOMPSON TO BEGIN WRITING REAL ESTATE COLUMN IN WINNIPEG JEWISH REVIEW

by Rhonda Spivak, April 6, 2012

I am pleased to let readers know that two local real estate "mavens", Monica Hirsch and David Thompson have approached me with the initiative of writing a regular real estate column in the Winnipeg Jewish Review, which will soon be commencing. Both Hirsch and Thompson are avid readers of this publication and thought a real estate column would be of interest to readers.

The three of us decided to meet for lunch at Bernsteins Deli, which was a hub of activity the day we were there--with many familiar faces also enjoying lunch (in fact as a journalist I could probably pick up a lot of community  news by just going to Bernsteins for lunch regularly and hanging around). Monica and David suggested some topics that I thought would be of interest (such as "bidding wars", "home staging"), and I hope that if readers have suggestions for topics they would like to see included, that they feel free to suggest them.

Both Monica and David were born and raised in Winnipeg and together as they told me "together we have over 50 years of real estate experience."

I have never met Monica before, and learned that she is the daughter of Holocaust survivors, whose journey into the real estate world began in 1986. In 1987 she acquired her Broker designation and provides her clients with VIP service. Hirsch told me that her specialty is "marketing high end properties and working with seniors and their families," and that that through her years of experience she has "helped many seniors and their families enjoy a better quality of life by serving their needs."

In addition to her real estate knowledge, Monica loves to cook and is going to provide readers with a few of her recipes for home cooked meals.

Monica also emphasizes that she likes to personalize her relationships to enhance the experience for her clients. "My clients are my testimonials and my business is based on a referral system. As a VIP buyer or seller, I will listen to what you are saying and will respect your decisions. The choice will be yours."

David Thompson, on the other hand, is someone I know from Brock Corydon School as his daughter was in my sons class and I enjoyed speaking Hebrew with him (he speaks Hebrew fluently). David has been involved in "over 2500 real estate transactions" in the last 25 years, a level of expertise which serves to "guide my clients through the complex real estate environment we are now in."

"For sellers that means being aligned with someone who is an expert in marketing as everyone knows that the 'creation of demand' drives the bottom line. For buyers it means working with someone who can explain the complexities of working in a strong “sellers market’ and equally as importantly someone who can source properties "off the market" that no one else is aware of except my clients," he says.

David has also has travelled extensively throughout North America as a sales trainer and spoken numerous times on the subject of residential real estate to groups of 2000 people or more.
