Toronto, Canada - September 5, 2012: Ami Allon has been appointed Director for Canada for the Israel Ministry of Tourism, taking over from Consul Oded Grofman, who returns to Jerusalem after a successful five-year term as director. Prior to his posting to Toronto, Mr. Allon was a Cadet and VP Marketing Assistant in the Jerusalem office of the Israel Ministry of Tourism.

Prior to his position with the Israel Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Allon enjoyed a multifaceted career, reflecting his varied interests and experience in business administration, marketing, cinema and winemaking.  Allon holds a MBA in Business Management (with a marketing specialty) at The Center for Academic Studies in Or Yehuda and a degree in Cinema Studies from Hasifa (The School of Cinema and Multimedia Studies) in Tel Aviv. Before joining the Israel Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Allon was the Campaign and Project Manager at Lidor Marketing and Advertising, a leading Israeli advertising agency.  From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Allon served as Team Leader at Kiryat Anavim Vineyards in the Judean Hills outside of Jerusalem, where he developed his skills in winemaking.

Allon is also the director and producer of the documentary, An Average Family with Cancer, which showed at the 2002 DocAviv International Film Festival and was later bought by Channel 8 in Israel.

Ami is married to Mari and has three children: Daniel (age 8), Maya (age 6) and a newborn son, Noam (age four weeks).
