YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE

Rosalind Marmel, November 16, 2012

Readers have been asking about the auditioning process in the Hollywood Scene.

You Can have your name on a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Thousand Oaks is a beautiful area, less than a half hour drive from where Emmy Award Winner Allan Blye, Cantor Herschel Fox and his family live. Grammy and Emmy Award Winner Aubrey Tadman’s families and many other former and current Winnipeggers live in the vicinity.

You can view them on YouTubes found in previous articles that I have written. You can see David Steinberg’s picture in my High Holy Day article and listen to and watch Grammy and Emmy Award nominated and Award Winners, Aubrey Tadman, Allan Blye, Norman Mittelmann, Karla Ross, Mike Lang, Chris Hardin and others I have written about.

YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR THE HOBBIT

Auditions will take place for THE HOBBIT by appointment only, on December 1st and 2nd of 2012.

Auditions for LITTLE WOMEN will take place on March 9th and 10th of 2013.

Let me know if you are cast. I recommend Dora Whitaker, the President of Whitaker Entertainment as a Casting Agent. You or your parents can find Dora’s brother, Johnnie Whitaker on YouTube talking about their lives as child stars of, "Family Affair" and life after, as they grew up. You can also view episodes, on YouTube. Dora is warm and friendly. I recommend anyone working for Dora.

Her website is:  www.whitakerentertainment.com

It is never too late to become a Hollywood star. If you do not already have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as do many Winnipeggers, yours could be there too. Don’t forget that Anna Pacquin, born in Winnipeg, won her Oscar, at age 11 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1994 for her role in "The Piano" making her the 2nd youngest Oscar Winner in history.

Young Artists Ensemble holds auditions for The Hobbit directed by Laura Mason at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 West Hillcrest Drive. Auditions are held December 1 and 2 by appointment only. Time slots begin at 9:45 Saturday morning and 11:15 Sunday morning and are held at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 West Hillcrest Drive. Auditions may also include a cold reading from the script, improvisation and light movement. Can the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins make the journey through the dark lands… aided by the noble Gandalf and a band of Dwarves? Will he survive his encounter with goblins, trolls, a fire-breathing dragon... and Gollum? J.R.R. Tolkien’s timeless tale of bravery will also be a part of this season’s award-winning Conejo Theatre For Everyone.

Conejo Theatre for Everyone (CTFE) combines the efforts of the Conejo Recreation and Park District's Therapeutic Recreation Unit and Young Artists Ensemble to feature disabled and non-disabled performers in a unique theatre experience. Several roles will be double-cast with members of the Therapeutics Community. Performers in these double-cast roles will act as actor-mentors assisting their counterparts to great performances. This program received the Recreation and Community Services Award for Personal Development, Health/Wellness by the California Park and Recreation Society in 2005. These performances will take place on February 22, 23 and 24, 2013, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

On May 3 – 19, 2013, the company will present LITTLE WOMEN at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, with auditions held March 9 and 10, 2013. Young Artists Ensemble has received many accolades in the past 32 years including the Encore Statue Award from the City of Thousand Oaks for Excellence in the Arts, and Best Innovative Program 2011, Large District from the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts. Most recently, it received six top honors in the National Youth Arts Awards for the 2011 Teen Summer Musical CHICAGO, including Outstanding Production, Outstanding Ensemble, and Outstanding Direction.

Good luck!! I hope to watch you performing soon.
