Dragon Boat Israel Festival – Sea of Galilee

Jan 6, 2013

Picture 20 paddlers, a drummer and a rudder moving in unison, combining strength and teamwork, in a boat whose elaborate design originated in ancient China. There are no stars or benchwarmers because teamwork is everything in dragon boat racing! This team sport is a global phenomenon with dragon boat races and festivals are held in 70 countries, including Israel!
The mission of Dragon Boat Israel is to bring people to the northern region of Israel for an exciting event that builds community, supports Israeli charities, fosters cultural awareness and promotes tourism.
The 2nd annual Dragon Boat Israel Festival will take place on the Sea of Galilee May 9-10, 2013. Several organizations are sponsoring trips to the Festival ranging in length from 3 to 12 days, creating a spectacular opportunity to visit Israel this summer.
The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg is hosting an information evening on Monday, January 21st at 7:00 pm, in the multipurpose room at the Asper Jewish Community Campus, 123 Doncaster Street. Please join us to find out about the many different trips offered for this year’s Dragon Boat Israel Festival: Jewish Federation of Ottawa’s Adventure Israel, One Family Fund’s Israel Experience, Canadian Friends of Hebrew University’s Bike and Paddle in Israel, and Dragon Boat Israel’s 3 or 10 day Festival Package. Whether you want to start a team or join a team, this meeting will inform you of options.
Please contact Faith Kaplan at [email protected] or 204.477.7424 with questions about the information evening. To learn more about the Dragon Boat Israel Festival, visit www.dragonboatisrael.com
