Winnipeg, MB – Gray Academy of Jewish Education’s students are no strangers to working hard to succeed, but over the past month, Gray Academy’s high school students have proven their versatility by taking the top ranks in the Provincial Novice Debate Championships, the Canadian National Math League Contests, and Winnipeg’s Zone 12 AAA Varsity Boys’ Basketball Championships.
“We’re always very proud of our students and their accomplishments,” says Rory Paul, Head of School at Gray Academy and CEO for the Winnipeg Board of Jewish Education, “but this month is especially exciting because, on the heels of our Varsity Boys’ basketball victory, our students have shown they can excel across the spectrum; from athletics to academics.”
Less than a month after winning Winnipeg’s Zone 12 AAA Varsity Boys’ Basketball title in March, Gray Academy’s grade 7 and 8 students beat out nearly 250 schools to win the Canadian National Math League Contests’ top school placement in Manitoba and Canada, and the Top Student placement in Manitoba, at the end of April. Just two weeks later, Gray Academy has now won the Top Student, Top Team and Top School honours at the Provincial Novice Debate Championship.
“Our students work extremely hard to balance their co-curricular efforts alongside a very rigorous dual-track General and Judaic Studies curriculum,” says Paul. “It’s great to see their efforts are rewarding them with the recognition they deserve.”
