National Council of Jewish Women ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING June 18, 2013

Press Release, June 4, 2013

National Council of Jewish Women Canada, Winnipeg Section will be holding its Annual General Meeting on June 18, 2013 at 7:30 pm at 141 Wellington Crescent (Party Room).  Proposed amendments to Winnipeg Section bylaws will be voted on.

Our speaker will be Ivy Kopstein, Jewish Child & Family Services, first Addictions Services Coordinator.  She will be speaking on “Jews & Addictions? Let’s Talk.”  Ivy will be accompanied by a special guest who will share her family’s story.

NCJWC is marking its 115th anniversary of service, and proudly continues its mandate of education, service and social action.

In the past year Winnipeg Section hosted receptions for new Canadians at Citizenship Court, participated in the Run for the Cure, hosted an education program on osteoporosis, and, together with the Rady JCC, co-hosted two very successful programs on Women’s Health issues, "I Laughed so Hard I Peed My Pants" and "Stress, Anxiety and Fatigue, Is it Just Me?".

Our “Books for Kids” project has distributed new and gently used books to inner city children and our Purim “Shalach Manot” baskets were provided to over 70 clients of JCFS.

We are honoured to be hosting the triennial convention for NCJW Canada in Winnipeg October 4-6.
All members and potential members are invited to attend the AGM, and are asked to bring non-perishable food items for JCFS's Food Pantry, as well as new and gently used books to be donated to Rossbrook House.
