A MIRACLE TO OCCUR AT HERZLIA SYNAGOGUE JUST IN TIME FOR CHANUKAH

The little shul that could is set to have heat by December 1, 2013

by Rhonda Spivak, October 3, 2013

In an exclusive sizzling interview with the Winnipeg Jewish Review (which took place during intermission at the Asper Jazz Series concert M'otzei Shabbat), a warm Dr. Earl Hershfield, President of Herzlia Adas Yeshurun Synagogue (Earl likes when I use the full name of the shul) proudly said that "the synagogue will have heat by December 1, 2013."

In other words, not only will there be "light" at the shul, but also HEAT!!! This is an electrifying, red-hot, fiery piece of news.

Alas, by December, the forecast for Herzlia is that it will be unseasonably hot- temperatures should be above normal in the shul (especially compared to last winter!).

Hershfield also said that the congregation will be renovating the sanctuary, and it will decide in due course what is to be done with the rest of the building (there is a possibility that Aleph Bet Daycare could make a deal and move in there. We shall wait and see if and when this will happen.)

In the meantime, attendees at the shul can be rest assured that they can "daven" without their mittens, and look forward to a hamishe tropical prayer experience.

Now on hearing of this blazing story, I checked the Hebrew calendar and learned that the first night of Chanukah is November 27, 2013.

So, if the shul moves up the date just a couple of days and has heat by November 27, rather than December 1 it will be a Chanukah miracle. And if the shul is lucky, one day of heat will last eight days.

From my lips to G-d's ears…
