Marina is the author of Prisoner of Tehran and After Tehran: A Life Reclaimed. She will share her memwories about growing up in Iran, serving time in Evin Prison for speaking out against the Iranian government, escaping a death sentence and finally fleeing Iran for a new life in Canada.
“BEING ARRESTED WAS REALLY LIKE WATCHING A MOVIE. IT WAS LIKE I WAS WATCHIN THIS HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE, IT REALLY WASN’T HAPPENING TO ME,” – NEMAT SAID. “NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT I PROBABLY ENTERED A STATE OF SHOCK THAT JUST KEPT GOING.”
