New Threats, New Opportunities: Israel in a Changing Middle East
Winnipeg. January 10, 2014- The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg in conjunction with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs is pleased to present a briefing for the general community by Dr. Jonathan Spyer. As a senior research fellow at the Global Research in International Affairs Center in Herzliya, Israel, a fellow at the Middle East Forum, and a renowned Middle East analyst focusing on Syria Lebanon and Israeli strategic affairs, Dr. Spyer will discuss: “New Threats, New Opportunities: Israel in the Changing Middle East.” Dr. Spyer is also the author of The Transforming Fire: the Rise of the Israel-Islamist Conflict (Continuum, 2011).
Spyer holds a PHD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and an MA in Middle East Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies. He is a columnist at the Jerusalem Post newspaper and has written for a wide variety of publications, including The Wall Street Journal, the Guardian, The Times, The National Post, the Weekly Standard, Haaretz and many others. He is a frequent guest analyst on electronic media and has appeared on CNN, Fox News, BBC World, al-Jazeera, Sky News and other outlets.
