I am writing this to the community at the end of a phenomenal 4-day mission to Israel as part of the Canadian delegation that has accompanied PM Harper on this ground breaking visit to Israel.

Despite some negative media coverage in Canada, the fact is that a Canadian Prime Minister and a delegation of Jewish leaders from across the country have been received with love and gratitude not only by Israeli leadership but most importantly by ordinary Israelis. 

As a hotel employee said to me, it was so important for Israelis to know that they aren't alone. Putting aside one's political views, I think that we should all think about how significant that is for people living under constant threat and anxiety.

This was in many respects a historic visit. It was electrifying to hear the Prime Minister speak at the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.

It was a privilege for me to be part of the Winnipeg delegation - the largest delegation from any community outside of Toronto.
