JOINT STATEMENT OF THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF WINNIPEG AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA

At a meeting on Friday, May 2, 2014, University of Manitoba President David T. Barnard and Jewish Federation of Winnipeg President David Kroft pledged to work to keep the relationship between the university and the Jewish community strong.

This will involve, amongst other things, continued dialogue on matters of importance to the Jewish and university communities.

Both organizations expressed their disappointment in the recent characterizations of the university and its president.  Both groups agreed to work together as issues may arise in the future to resolve differences, keeping the safety and dignity of all students as a paramount consideration.
