PROCEEDS FROM THIS YEAR’S HIGH HOLIDAY APPEAL WILL BE DIRECTED TOWARDS
BUILDING BOMB SHELTERS FOR COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHERN ISRAEL
KKL-JNF personnel continue to work in Israel’s periphery despite the on-going threat of rocket fire. Dedicated forestry personnel tend forests and woodlands and continue their daily tasks almost as usual. At this particular time, “almost” is the operative word, as their work is regularly interrupted by siren alerts, warning of oncoming missiles. The many visitors to KKL-JNF forests and centers in the periphery as well as KKL-JNF personnel who work in forests and field offices have no shelters and are exposed to the danger of missile attacks.
KKL-JNF is purchasing and installing portable bomb shelters at KKL-JNF centers in the country’s periphery. The concrete bomb shelters, some 11 square meters in size, can contain up to 30 people. They feature concrete entranceways, filters in the event of biological warfare, chemical toilets and bomb proof windows and doors. Each shelter costs $30,000 to purchase and install.
100% of all donations will go towards the vital project of protecting and saving the lives of the many visitors to KKL-JNF forests and periphery centers and dedicated KKL-JNF personnel in the event of missile attacks.
