Judges are Needed for Gary Academy Junior National Debating Championships on Friday May 8th, 2015-Gray Academy is co-hosting Annual Junior National Debating Championships

March 31, 2015

Gray Academy is co-hosting the annual Canadian Junior National Debating Championships on Friday May 8th, 2015. This event will provide an opportunity for all of our students to observe and potentially participate in the highest level of junior debating in Canada.

In order for the event to be successful we need volunteer judges.  If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.  We realize that everyone is very busy but we hope that you will be able to find time to help us out.  Events such as this are impossible without the kind and generous assistance of volunteers.

Gray Academy has become known to host high quality debating events and we want to uphold the school’s reputation; consequently, we need enough judges available to have 3 per debate room. A substantial pool of judges will ensure fairness and will avoid placing too much burden on any one judge. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to listen to the students present their arguments.  As those of you who have judged before are aware, judges are given a thorough briefing prior to the session.

If you are available to judge, please email Mia Elfenbaum [email protected]  or Andrew Kaplan [email protected]

On Friday May 8th, 2015, please come to the multi-purpose room between 9:30-10:00am at Gray Academy, 123 Doncaster Street. We will be providing a judges briefing at 10am and the second round will end at 1:45pm. A kosher milk lunch will be provided to all competitors and judges at 11:45am (assuming judges are staying until 1:45pm).

I look forward to an engaging day of debate! Further information about judging can be found at:

Yours sincerely,
