JNF's third annual Breakfast for Israel

July 10, 2015

On August 23, 2015, the Jewish National Fund of Canada – Manitoba/Saskatchewan Region (JNF) will be serving up a traditional Kibbutz Style Israeli Breakfast in Winnipeg Beach at Camp Massad for the third annual Breakfast for Israel. “We are extremely excited to partner with Camp Massad, another well-established organization committed to Israel”, stated branch Vice-President Jessica Cogan. “We look forward to many years of collaboration.”

Camp Massad was founded in 1953 just north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada by a group of Winnipeg educators and volunteers dedicated to the fledgling State of Israel and the revival of the Hebrew language. The Camp recently received a massive facelift including an upgraded dining hall and newly built cabin all of which will make for a beautiful venue for this year’s Breakfast for Israel.

While guests enjoy their breakfast, they will hear a presentation from Irit Stopper, Deputy Consul General of Israel in Canada. She has served in a number of positions in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1972 including Minister Counselor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Multilateral Affairs Directorate and Minister Counselor in the Jewish Communities Department of the World Jewish and Religious Affairs Bureau.

Breakfast for Israel is also a way to involve and engage JNF’s board members and community leaders. In addition to having people call in and register, board members (as well as other members of the community) are acting as “table captains”. This means that each table captain is personally inviting their friends and family in order to fill their table of ten. The Jewish National Fund is requesting a minimum contribution of $36 from each attendee, $18 for children under 13 and children 6 and under are free to attend. Guests who donate any amount over and above $36 will receive a tax receipt for the charitable portion (i.e. a $54 donation will receive an $18 tax receipt).

The event will be casual, with shorts, flip-flops and sundresses encouraged. The breakfast, consisting of an assortment of salads, baked goods and other Israeli foods will be served family style.

To register to attend Breakfast for Israel or to become a table captain, please call the JNF office at 204-947-0207 or email [email protected]
