THIS YEAR’S JNF HIGH HOLIDAY APPEAL’S PROCEEDS WILL BE DIRECTED TOWARDS PROVIDING SAFETY FOR YOUTH IN SOUTHERN ISRAEL

posted Aug 31, 2015

Shavei Darom is a new community in the western Negev, located just 10km from the Gaza border. It was established by former residents of Gush Katif under the Disengagement Plan of 2005. This community has demonstrated courage, determination & bravery over the years and is a community that lives for their children, for their future, a bright and peaceful future.

There are presently 200 students attending the Shavei Darom elementary school, where classes are now held in caravans and the school does not have a shelter to protect the pupils during emergencies. During last summer’s Operation Protective Edge war, the children were in constant danger and became extremely anxious & fearful. The immediate need is for 4 protected classrooms, which can serve as regular classrooms during normal school conditions but in times of emergency can accommodate all in attendance.

JNF/KKL will partner with the settlement of Shavei Darom to build life-saving- fortified classrooms, protecting their children from rocket fire.

Your contribution today will go towards the vital project of protecting and saving the lives of the students attending school in this new community, allowing these children to learn without fear.

On behalf of the Jewish National Fund we would like to thank you for supporting the citizens of Israel.
