Canada's Arab Jewish Dialogue (AJD) stands in solidarity with Quebec mosque shooting victims and their families

Jan 31, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Winnipeg, Manitoba – Canada's Arab Jewish Dialogue (AJD) today issued a statement of solidarity in standing with Quebec mosque shooting victims and their families.

"On behalf of the Arab Jewish Dialogue (AJD), we express our deepest condolences to the families of those precious individuals who lost their lives while praying at their mosque in Quebec," said Arab Jewish Dialogue Co-Chairs Howard Morry and Ab Freig.  "We also pray for the recovery of those critically wounded during this cowardly act of terrorism."

Morry and Freig, responsible for leading the organization to foster better relations between Arabs and Jews in Canada, urged Canadians to condemn violence between religious groups. "We, the Arab Jewish Dialogue, express our strongest condemnation and urge everyone to condemn such violence, as it has no place in our civil society."

The AJD works to ensure positive dialogue between Arabs and Jews, believing that difference of opinion and historic grievances can only be resolved through discussion and education.

"We must never accept hate and intolerance in our country toward any person or group," Morry stated, in an act of solidarity with Muslims.

"Today, we are all Muslims from Quebec."
