A Message from the President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg

by Laurel Malkin and Elaine Goldstine , posted January 9, 2017

Dear Community Members,

As we welcome in 2018, we would like to extend a very Happy New Year to each of you.  We have so much to be thankful for as we celebrate our Jewish identity, embrace our cultural diversity and see the difference generous community members make each day.

Campaign Update

As of December 31, 2017, we are pleased to report the CJA Campaign is at $5.58 million.  It is not too late for you to make a difference in our community. Call Linda at 204.477.7428 or click here to donate today. As we begin the year together, we invite you to join one of our committees of volunteers. If you have any feedback or questions about our work or how you may become involved, please do not hesitate to contact us:

Community Planning has moved on to the next phase with committees formed and ready to embark on the new action plans.

Federation, in partnership with JCFS and Rady JCC, would like you to attend “Our Jewish Family: a Conference on Diversity and Inclusion” on March 12th.  Please click here for details.

We will be hosting a visit from CIJA (The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs), our national partners for matters relating to security and Israel advocacy, this month.  We each have a voice in their upcoming strategies/vision for the year ahead as they coordinate grassroots consultations across Canada.  Click here to register for the January 21st session in Winnipeg.

We are thrilled to report that Gabi Ashkenazi, a very highly respected security specialist from Israel, will be in Winnipeg for meetings and a community presentation in June.  Gabi will be speaking on the Rashi Foundation and cyber education in Israel:  a fascinating subject you do not want to miss. For more information click here.

Nominations are now open for Kavod honourees.  Please take some time to consider who, of our many valuable volunteers, you would like to nominate. Click here for more information or to put forth a nomination.

We welcome communication with all community members and appreciate your feedback and involvement.  Together we can reach new heights.

Please join us for these upcoming events and programs:
