Temple President Linda Freed and lead donor Alecs Chochinov celebrate his family's gift of $100,000

Temple Shalom Capital Campaign Update-$670,000 Has Been Raised So Far

March 28, 2018

The response to the campaign is OUTSTANDING - $670,000 is today’s new total!

Temple Shalom has received over $670,000 in pledges including significant gifts from several generous donors from our local community who are not members of Temple Shalom. They recognize that Temple Shalom is an integral part of a dynamic Winnipeg Jewish community.

Thanks went out to the following recent donors for their generosity:

Janet Boonov
Allan Finkel
Chris & Jeff Frank

Sid & Esther Halpern
Frank Lavitt & Ahava Halpern
Wayne Manishen
Earl Minuk
Anita Moeller & Andy Boardman
Roz Nairn
Eduardo & Monica Schor
Delores Shtatleman
Dan & Kay Stone
David & Sylvia Topper

The Temple was also recently notified that they have received a Community Grant from The Winnipeg Foundation, a Community Infrastructure Program Grant from the City of Winnipeg, and a significant grant from the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.

Renovations to enhance the building will start in April and will accelerate as donations are received. The board is in discussion with the Rabbi to increase his time and presence at the Temple and fall program planning is well underway.  In addition they are pleased to that their endowment fund at the Jewish Foundation is growing.

The fundraising campaign will continue so we they can replace fire doors and implement security measures (increased outdoor lighting and an upgraded video intercom entry system), and keep working toward an important part of the plan which is to enhance programming and to endow fixed costs as they move forward.

The campaign goal is $1 million so the campaign continues. The Temple is asking for support to allow Temple Shalom to meet the ever-changing needs of our community and to ensure that liberal Judaism continues to thrive in Winnipeg.
