Gail Asper with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Moe Levy, executive director of the Asper Foundation in Winnipeg

Read The Times of Israel Article About Philanthropist Gail Asper, The Asper Foundation and the World's Jewish Museum Contemplated for Tel Aviv

April 16, 2018

Editor's Note: An article appeared recently in the Times of Israel entitled  "Canadian Heiress Throws Millions Into Massive Tel Aviv Based Jewish Hall Of Fame". The title of this article is a most unfortunate one. Referring to Gail Asper as a "Canadian heiress" has sexist overtones and is rather insulting. It does not reflect the significant talent and fine attributes she brings to the table not only in creating Canada’s fifth National Museum, The Canadian Museum for Human Rights, which has only recently been featured on the Canadian $10 bill, but also working tirelessly in promoting and fundraising for the World's Jewish Museum. Additionally, it is not accurate to refer to the contemplated museum as a "Jewish Hall of Fame". Rather it is a Museum aimed at re-framing the Jewish narrative to illustrate and educate on the many areas of Jewish contributions. It is helpful to remember that Gail Asper as President of The Asper Foundation has played a significant philanthropic role in Israel over 20 years and is very committed to making a positive difference in the Jewish State. You can read more about the foundation’s many initiatives in Israel at www.asperfoundation.com<http://www.asperfoundation.com>  and about the Museum at www.worldsjewishmuseum.com<http://www.worldsjewishmuseum.com>.To read the Times of Israel article click on the link below:
