Rabbi Moshe Edelman

Congregation Etz Chayim Presents Rabbi Moshe Edelman as its Shavuot Scholar in Residence for the weekend of May 18 - 21, 2018

April 26, 2018

Shavuot  Scholar  in Residence Weekend  with  Rabbi Moshe Edelman, May 18-21,2018

Over the course of this Shavuot weekend we invite you to learn and be inspired by the teachings of Reb Moshe.

Rabbi Moshe Edelman joins us again from New York City. He has led an extensive career has serving as a Congregational Rabbi, Scholar-in-Residence, High Holy Day Rabbi, facilitator, teacher, and much more.

About Reb Moshe

“Reb Moshe” is a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary. He served as the rabbi of the North Shore Jewish Center in Port Jefferson as well as Beth El of Cedarhurst, both on Long Island. As the Director of Leadership Development for Conservative synagogues, he created and presented SULAM, a four day program training soon-to-be presidents of shuls. Over a 19 year period, in 38 editions of SULAM, more than 1000 women and men prepared for effective supervision of their congregations.

The rabbi is called on as a scholar in residence and often combines such visits with strategic planning seminars for synagogue officers and trustees. He has also taught at Limmud Winnipeg and Limmud Baltimore. (Perhaps some of us learned with him on his previous visits to our city!) Recently, he has been on the faculty of Camp Ramah, Nyack, New York; rabbi in residence for 14 years at the HAZAK seniors Week of Learning as well as at the Berkshire Hills Senior Retreats. He is even a Kashrut Mashgiach for a New York City restaurant, BENS. Moshe has served the needs of a Health Related Facility for Shabbatot for more than 4 years.

Rabbi Moshe Edelman continues to learn in a chevruta setting of a dozen men and women in his home community of Riverdale (Bronx) New York. The rabbi has been a “second rabbi” for the High Holy Days in large congregations in Northbrook Illinois, Richmond, Virginia, Marlboro, NJ, Adas Israel in Toronto, Agudath Israel in Ottawa and Metuchen,NJ. He has also “solo led” Beit Rayim in Toronto before they elected a rabbi as well as in Massapequa, New York.
