Dear Community Members,

September was a month filled with many Jewish holidays. I hope you enjoyed some quality time with family and friends. I am pleased to report that even with numerous days during which our office closed over the holidays, we accomplished some great work together.

120 DAYS OF IMPACT – 2018 CJA Campaign 

Today is Day 28 of our 120 days of IMPACT and we have already raised over $1.1 million for our community! Thank you to all the volunteers and donors. You are making an IMPACT! Donations are coming in steadily. Please join us and make your donation today so that we can make an even greater IMPACT within our community.

SuperSunday on September 16 was a great success with over 45 volunteers joining together to raise $128,240! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and of course to everyone who waited for our calls. If you were one of the over 300 people here for SuperFunday, you will have noticed that this event also included 15 agency information tables with representatives available to respond to your questions about their services. A special thank you to the Rady JCC for organizing tables and all of the family fun for kids of all ages.   

IMPORTANT UPCOMING EVENTS 

Day 40 of IMPACT: October 10 -- Footprints: Celebrate the Past, March to the Future, the CJA Campaign event of the year! Join us at The Met as we celebrate community milestones. We truly look forward to seeing you at this evening of entertainment. You may be surprised to see who will be on stage and in the audience! This is an event not to be missed. We will celebrate the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg's 80th anniversary, Israel's 70th birthday and welcome a special piece in honour of March of the Living's 30th year. If you are a March of the Living Alumni, come on out and wear your blue jacket! This is a free community-wide event. Register online now as seating is limited.

Day 69 of IMPACT: November 8 -- The Rescue: A Live Film-ConcertoKristallnacht Commemoration. The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, in partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, and the Freeman Family Foundation Holocaust Education Centre of the Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada will be hosting the evening at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Register online now as seating is limited. 

LOCAL NEWS 

This week, we welcomed our largest-ever Partnership 2Gether (P2G) delegation from our sister city in Israel, Kiryat Shmona. The students and staff from Danciger High School are staying with Gray Academy families over the course of the 10 days they are in our city. Federation has been funding this initiative since 1997 and are so excited that the program continues to grow. The connections made between our local students and their Israeli counterparts last a lifetime. Welcome to Winnipeg, P2G! 

On September 20, Federal PC leader The Honourable Andrew Sheer met with members of our community to learn more about the WInnipeg Jewish community, as well as our concerns about security and immigration. We have meetings scheduled with the local mayoral candidates as well in preparation for the upcoming election.
