"Race for Arielle" In Memory of Arielle Kraut raises $25,000 in Support of Research and Clinics for Adult Eating Disorders

by Rhonda Spivak, Aug 12, 2019

A very special charitable event , entitled the "Race for Arielle", in memory of Arielle Kraut put on by Arielle’s family was held on July 24th, 2019 at the Gimli Motorsport Park. Over 150 people attended the event, which raised over $25,000 through the Arielle Sarah Kraut Endowment Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba in support of research and clinics for adult eating disorders.

Arielle Sarah Kraut passed away at the young age of 29 years old. As the Kraut family noted "She was a passionate, creative woman with a profound dedication to her loved ones, especially her young niece Jordan. Arielle's battle with Bulimia began at age 16 and lasted until the last moments of her life. Although she lived with great struggle and sadness, her life had its share of happiness through her love of animals, family, and artistry."

As Arielle's family explained "Arielle sought out help at different stages of her disease and hoped to make a recovery so she could start a family of her own. Unfortunately, her illness tragically took her life far too soon.

"For others needing help, programs are numbered, with scarce resources, and occupy a one-way approach of treating the disease. Plus, treatment programs hold a 1-2 year waiting list. Therefore, it's our hope that Arielle's endowment fund can bring awareness and urgency to more effective treatment centers so everyone can receive help when they need it."

At the "Race for Arielle" there were over 50 of Winnipeg's most exotic sports cars. The event included family fun activities, ride alongs and a car show. For a small donation, attendees were able to ride-a-long in the exotic cars around the race track and experience the ride of a lifetime.

For a $1500 donation, participants could take a ride around the track with a professional race car driver, David Richert and then learn how to drive like a professional. This hour and a half   experience included a racing theory lesson followed by one-on-one instruction around the circuit with the pro driver coaching participants all the way.  David  provided tips and tricks to help participants improve their speed and skills in a safe and controlled way.

As the Kraut family stated, "Hope and recovery for individuals suffering from eating disorders is the best gift the Arielle Sarah Kraut Endowment Fund can give. Proper and suitable treatment and support for eating disorders must be explored and implemented."

It is hoped that the "Race for Arielle" will become an annual event. Anyone wishing to donate to the "Race for Arielle" can contact the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba at 204 477 7520.

The Kraut Family wants to thank everyone who participated in the "Race for Arielle" and a special thank-you to Richert Racing, Vickar Automotive Group, Porsche Center Winnipeg,  SAR Polaris, A Little Pizza Heaven, Manny Sousa Photography, Modify Me, the Rural Municipality of Gimli and all of of those who donated.
