There is something comforting and normalizing in openly sharing our grief experiences with others. Jewish Child and Family Service is offering a Bereavement Support Group for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one. Its aim is to provide professional and peer emotional support, education, and to help participates on their road to healing from their grief and loss. The group provides the guidance needed, and a healthy space to share, learn, and safely work through grief without feeling guilt or shame. The virtual, non-denominational group will take place on Thursdays, October 28 thru December 9, 2021, from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm p.m. (n.b. No session on Remembrance Day, November 11). The group will be facilitated by Penny Yellen, M.S.W. and Dorit Kosmin, MSW. Penny has over forty years of experience, both in therapeutic counselling and group facilitation. Dorit is a social worker in the JCFS Addictions Services Program and is currently working toward her chaplaincy certification in spiritual care. To register, contact Penny Yellen at 204-477-7430 or [email protected] if you feel you or someone you know might benefit from this group.
