2023 is turning out to be another spectacular year for Professor Michael Eskin. He was
informed last December that he was selected by the Manitoba Canola Growers Association
(MCGA) as the 2023 recipient of the Canola Outstanding Award for his long and dedicated
research on the development of canola oil and subsequent improvements in quality. The
award will be presented at their Annual Meeting and banquet in February where Michael and his wife
will be provided with a kosher meal. In early January, Michael received congratulations from
the American Oil Chemists’ Society that he was awarded the very prestigious A.R Baldwin Distinguished
Service Award for his distinguished service to the society. Over the years, Michael has been very active as chair
of many of the society’s committees, and still serves as Associate Editor of the American Oil Chemists’ Society
Lipid Library responsible for the Education section of the website. The award will be given at the Annual
Conference to be held in Denver later this year. In June, Michael will also be formally inducted as a Distinguished Professor
at the University Manitoba's Spring Convocation.
