[Editor's note: The following communication was just sent out on April 18 to the membership of Congregation Eytz Chayim from Avrom Charach, the President of the Congregation]

Dear Congregation Etz Chayim Members,
 
The process of transitioning to our new home on Wilkes Avenue continues.   This is both a challenging and time-consuming effort that our Transition Team is heading up so ably and they will continue to update you on the developments of their work and progress as we prepare to move.  Stay tuned.
 
We know that among the many questions that have persisted since we announced the purchase of our new building, the one at the top of your minds has been, “When will we sell 123 Matheson?”.  I had promised to keep you apprised as soon as there was news to share.   Today is that day!
 
The Board of CEC has formally approved an agreement to sell 123 Matheson Avenue, the current home of CEC.  Now, I caution that the prospective buyer has a period of 60 days to perform due diligence – much like we did during the process of purchasing 1155 Wilkes Avenue, and to arrange financing.  So, while there could still be a change of course, we are confident that the sale will proceed.  We have been in negotiations with this buyer for a number of weeks now, and it appears committed to its interest in the building.
 
So let me be clear. While we have an agreement to sell 123 Matheson, the building is not officially sold.   When due diligence has been completed and financing has been arranged, the sale agreement will be final.
 
When the 60 day period has passed, and the sale moves forward, we will be in a position to share some of the details of this transaction. Again, I promise to keep you informed as developments dictate.
 
Until then, we will continue to see to the details of our transition, and say a little prayer that the sale proceeds smoothly.
